I am going to focus and mention a few activities that would be fun to do with family or friends or both.
The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas
The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is a wonderful aquatic environment fun for everyone. With many kinds of species in and out of the water, Audubon Aquarium of the Americas offers a fun tour through many habitats experiencing wildlife. Many kinds of fish and other more local species, Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is a chance to take a trip into a world like no other. And if you are traveling with family, there are many great hands exhibits for kids and adults to learn and touch some wildlife species. Many play areas as well, so kids can burn off that extra energy and also adults can refuel in the wonderful cafeteria. Also, make sure you check out the Eye Max Theater. Audubon Aquarium of the Americas has a lot to do and is one fun activity to take advantage when visiting New Orleans.
Audubon Zoo
Another fun place to visit in New Orleans is another place for family and friends to see more animals. When the weather is not so hot, Audubon Zoo is another excellent place to spend the day. With many large and small animals to see, Audubon Zoo is a large zoo with a lot to do. Many play areas for kids. And if the adults are craving an adult beverage, don’t worry, Audubon Zoo sells beer. Kids and adults can be fully satisfied when visiting the Audubon Zoo. There are animals all over the world here from many demographic backgrounds and habitats. And there are also plenty of our local swamp pets too. So, once experiencing the indoors of the Aquarium, tourists can experience wildlife in the outdoors in there more natural habitat.
Ghost Tours
Another fun and scary activity takes place when the sun goes down. Experience New Orleans in a different kind of light. New Orleans is an old and very historic city, but not all history is positive. Voted as one of the most haunted cities in America, guests spending time in New Orleans should definitely take one of the famous ghost tours. Traveling through the historic cemeteries or one of the old buildings, tourist who are not afraid of the bump in the night can have fun investigating the paranormal. There are many tours that people can take in different areas of the city. Trust me, it is worth it. Even if you are a skeptic, the tour themselves are fun and you get to see some of the more historic parts of the city. You also get a great history lesson. If nothing else you will have fun on these tours, but if you are lucky, you may be able to see a ghost from New Orleans's past.
Mardi Gras
When visiting New Orleans around late winter or early spring, one seasonal activity tourist must check out is New Orleans celebration of Mardi Gras. There are many parades to choose from. And trust me; the floats seem to get better every year. It’s a wonderful experience to partake in. If you want a more traditional way to celebrate Mardi Gras, couples can attend one of the many Mardi Gras Balls. Great food and dancing for everyone in a more formal dress environment is what one can expect when in attendance at one of the balls. Mardi Gras roughly lasts for about two weeks and ends on Fat Tuesday. It’s a fun time and a memorable activity that is fun for all. One word of advice though, plan out your day with maps of the parade routes. Sometimes it can get a bit chaotic if you are not familiar on what part of the city you are in. Careful planning and great spirits makes Mardi Gras an activity that is worth experiencing once in a lifetime.
